“And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” (AI-Baqarah, 2:216)


Reported by Ibn 'Umar (Radi Allaahau Anhu): Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever misses the 'Asr prayer (intentionally) then it is as if he lost his family and property.” —(Bukhari)

Ibn Taimiyah said: you may see someone who happens to be the brightest and smartest of all, yet he can’t see the truth let alone follow it. At the same time, you may find someone who is not bright at all, yet he is guided to the light of Islam. This shows you that whoever depends on his wit and intellect, he will be misguided. That is why, I feel sorry for those atheists or agnostics who doubt the existence of Allah and the perfection of this universe. They chose not to be guided due to their arrogance and hence Allah didn’t guide them. Allah says: “Verily! You (O Muhammad) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided.” Praise be to Allah for guiding us to the truth and may Allah make us steadfast on it till we die.
